One precursor of 
was so-called ResumeReader — an application for OCRing and parsing résumés/CVs. ATAPY did a certain amount of research for this application but never actually implemented it because it opted for the more general approach of . Here is a few opinions and resources derived during this research:

Extensive correspondence with Recruiting Solutions International, Main Sequence Technologies, and Bond International Software, the three leading providers of recruitment-related software, has revealed a lot of interest for the ResumeReader concept. All three companies indicated desire to integrate ResumeReader as an input front-end into their staffing applications, such as RecruitingCenter and PCRecruiter.
